DreamSpend · Applied AI Lab

AI is moving fast.
Business value is harder.

DreamSpend explores where applied AI can unlock growth, improve customer outcomes, recover capacity, or make a business easier to operate and scale.

Find the opportunity first. Apply AI where it earns its place.

Why DreamSpend

How could AI change the economics of your business?

I’ve spent more than 20 years working through shifts in technology, customer behavior, growth and operating models, including leadership roles at American Express and Prudential.

At Prudential, I built and led a multidisciplinary innovation lab focused on identifying, incubating and scaling new growth opportunities. Later, I became the operator, taking responsibility for the P&L and modernization of an established PE-backed business.

That experience changed the question from “What can the technology do?” to “Where can it change the economics of the business?”

DreamSpend is where I test that question against real operating problems.

Building, not just advising

The lab is where ideas meet real operating problems.

01 · COMPLEX FINANCIAL DECISIONS

Exploring where judgment matters.

I architected and coded DreamSpend, an AI-native multi-agent prototype exploring how AI could support complex financial decisions such as retirement transitions, IRA rollovers, inheritances and spousal wealth transfers.

How do you use probabilistic AI when context, judgment, explainability and reliability matter?

The learning now informs how I approach applied AI more broadly, including where human judgment belongs, how workflows should be redesigned, and what needs to be measured before a solution deserves to scale.

02 · APPLIED AI IN THE REAL WORLD

Finding the opportunity before building the AI.

In work with BrightStreet Financial, we used customer, behavioral and operating data to understand where the business had untapped opportunity, then designed AI-enabled workflows around what we learned.

The most valuable output wasn’t another AI tool. It was a clearer view of where the business could grow, what was getting in the way, and where technology could create leverage.

In their words

“Sims doesn't start with technology. She starts with the business problem.”

“What stuck with me was her focus on creating economic value through the deployment of AI, and how easily she moves between strategy and the actual work of getting something done.”

The DreamSpend approach

Find the opportunity first. Apply AI where it earns its place.

01

Understand

Start with the customer, economics, workflow and business objective.

02

Observe

See how work actually happens, including workarounds, shadow tools and institutional knowledge.

03

Prioritize

Separate interesting AI ideas from opportunities that can create meaningful business value.

04

Test

Build the smallest useful intervention and establish what needs to change.

05

Measure & decide

Determine what worked, what didn’t, and what deserves further investment.

BUILD · BUY · FIX · STOP

Sometimes the answer is AI. Sometimes the underlying process, data or operating model needs fixing first. Knowing the difference is part of the work.

Where we’re applying it next

Protect the firm you built.
Modernize the work around advice.

Independent RIAs have a particularly interesting version of this challenge. Years of client knowledge, trusted relationships and operating judgment can become embedded in experienced advisors, inboxes, spreadsheets and disconnected systems.

That creates both an advisor-capacity problem and, for founder-led firms, a succession and transferability problem.

The Advisor Capacity Opportunity Assessment is designed to uncover where capacity is trapped, where growth opportunities may be hidden, where the firm is overly dependent on individual knowledge, and where applied AI could genuinely help.

How much advisor capacity is trapped inside your firm?

Start with the business problem

You don’t need an AI strategy to start.

If you have a business problem, growth opportunity or workflow where you suspect AI could make a meaningful difference, let’s start there.

DreamSpend is an Applied AI Lab. Engagements focus on business, product, workflow and technology opportunities and do not constitute investment, legal, tax or compliance advice.
